The Way of Shambhala Conference - Cologne, 19-21 November 2010 The Shambhala Europe Office of Practice and Education is hosting a conference this fall to inform and support centres and groups in understanding and better implementing the Way of Shambhala curriculum in the context of coming changes in Shambhala that will change the way we organize, plan, and carry out our programmes. Among these changes, there is new governance structure based on "Three Pillars" (Government, Practice and Education, and Dorje Kasung). For the Practice and Education pillar new heads will be appointed and the old structures of the Shambhala Training and Buddhist Practice and Study ‘gates' will be replaced with a structure that reflects the integrated Shambhala Buddhist path. During this conference we will discuss these changes and how they affect the path of our students in general and our implementation of the Way of Shambhala curriculum in our centres. We will also model lessons and/or activities from the curriculum and share ideas and solutions for scheduling, teaching, and how to get started (if you haven't already!) There will also be opportunities to discuss questions related to teacher authorizations, small centre/group issues, and regional networking. Everyone who has a role in supporting the Way of Shambhala is welcome to attend. We particularly would like to invite those individuals who are currently serving in leadership roles in the areas of Practice and Education as well as Shambhala Training. The conference will be led by a group of newly-appointed shastris, supported by the hosting team of Shambhala Europe. Please come and refuel! The programme will start at 19:30 on Friday, 19 November, 2010 and end on Sunday the 21st around lunchtime, so everyone can get home in time to start the new week freshly. Lodging at the Kalapa Centre is possible. You are welcome to make other arrangements for lodging (e.g., with sangha members) on your own. Please indicate when you register if you plan to stay at the centre.
